The four-cylinder diesel engines
in the BMW 118d, 120d and 123d.

The BMW 123d is the world's first four-cylinder engine with Variable Twin Turbo. Two different-sized turbochargers are deployed sequentially to dispense extra power right across the rev range. At low revs, the small turbocharger works on its own to provide instantaneous throttle response. Third-generation common rail injection ensures exceptional performance (105 -150 kW / 143 - 204 hp) in hand with unbeatable fuel consumption levels (4.4 - 5.5 l/100 km). And thanks to the engine block now being made solely of aluminium, weight is reduced by an enormous 20 kg. The diesel engines in the BMW 1 Series Coupé meet the EU5 emissions standard.

Fuel consumption / CO2 emissions

Combined fuel consumption: 4.5 to 5.5 l/100 km
Combined CO2 emissions: 118 to 145 g/km
